Mary loves her collection of handmade gothic dolls. She talks to them, cares for them, and treats them as if they were alive.
What she doesn't know is that they really are.
To the dolls, Lambwick is a little town of their own, and Mary is their mayor. They can hear every word she says, but she cannot hear a word from them.
In their first little adventure, four residents wait inside a box, wondering who their newest companion might be.
Then someone brings up a rather sensitive subject: who has a pumpkin-shaped head?
What follows is an argument of extraordinary importance, at least to the dolls. Violet, in particular, would like everyone to know that she is absolutely, positively NOT a pumpkin-head.
Just as the argument reaches its peak, Mary announces a surprise. The newcomer is their mother!
Surely this should be a touching family moment.
Unfortunately, nobody seems particularly interested. There is still the very serious matter of the pumpkin head to settle.
Who Is the Pumpkin Head? is a warm, mischievous little comedy about handmade dolls with very real personalities, enormous opinions, and the beginnings of a rather unusual family.
Welcome to Lambwick, where even the smallest residents have something to say.
