Yoori

Yoori is a co-director and co-creator of Shell Oracle. Twelve years of art study and a background in fashion design formed her sensitivity to silhouette, proportion and the way an object meets the body.

Her early visual vocabulary returned repeatedly to eyes and moths, alongside extensive experiments with clay forms. These studies developed into a restrained, literary language in which melancholy, distance and tension remain palpable without becoming decorative.

After Angie initiated their collaboration, the two artists jointly formed the first shell-eye work. Their ongoing practice is reciprocal: Yoori’s attention to concept, form and image meets Angie’s material judgement and construction, each altering the other. Within Shell Oracle, the eye is both receptive and projective; parasitic on the shell, it holds longing alongside an uneasy balance of elegance and the grotesque.
