Mourning Tide is a made-to-order crying-eye candle holder built from a natural shell, a sculpted Shell Oracle eye and a fitted candle-support structure. Melted wax can pass from the corner of the eye and travel across the shell like tears; the changing wax is an intentional part of the work.

Please contact Shell Oracle before placing an order for Holder + Candle. We will confirm the available shell, approximate size, eye direction, compatible candle and production timing. The photographs are design references rather than a ready-to-ship exact piece.

Holder + Candle includes the finished sculptural holder and one compatible candle.
80 g Wax + 3 Wicks is a refill kit only and does not include the candle holder.

Made to order and light customization

The holder is individually made in the Mourning Tide design language. You may request a pale, dark, restrained or more ornamented direction, along with preferences for eye expression, faux pearls, crystal tears or overall tone. Natural shell species, silhouette, spikes, colour, eye details and wax path will vary. Production is normally approximately 1–2 weeks before dispatch; an especially complex or large natural shell may require a longer confirmed timeframe. Refill-kit processing is approximately 1 week.

Candle compatibility and refill use

Use the included compatible candle unless a different candle type or diameter has been confirmed with Shell Oracle. To use the refill, warm the sealed refill pouch in hot water until the wax becomes liquid, position a replacement wick securely in the holder, pour carefully and allow the wax to cool and fully solidify before lighting. Never expose the refill pouch directly to a flame or direct heat.

Safety

  • Place the holder on a stable, non-flammable, heat-safe plate or tray large enough to catch dripping wax.
  • Never leave a burning candle unattended.
  • Keep away from curtains, paper, fabric, pets, children and other flammable materials.
  • Do not move the holder while the candle is burning or the wax is hot.
  • Keep the candle upright and securely fitted; use only a compatible candle.
  • Handle hot water and melted wax carefully.
  • Stop use if the shell cracks, shifts, leaks unexpectedly, becomes excessively hot or the flame becomes unstable.

Wax flow and the resulting surface pattern depend on the candle, flame, room temperature, shell angle and burning time. Wax dripping is an intended visual effect, not a defect.

Materials and presentation

Natural shell, sculpted mixed-media eye, crystal and faux pearl details, fitted candle-support structure and compatible candle. The holder includes gift-ready packaging, a product certificate and an artist-signed card.
